Catherine Ritch Guess
In the Garden
Rosemary sat on a bench amidst the flowers of the hospital’s garden reading the Mother’s Day card one last time before sealing the envelope. It was not the first time she and her mother had spent this special day in this surrounding. However, the last time, 47 years ago, was the day Rosemary was born. God had seen fit to work a miracle on that day, to allow a mother to hold onto her blessed child. Now Rosemary prayed that God would once again use this setting to work another Mother’s Day miracle. Only this time, she was hoping that He would allow the child to hold onto her blessed mother. As she finished her prayer, a vision came to her of another prayer once spoken in a garden by a lone, solitary man, also not wanting to drink from the cup. God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, Rosemary whispered as she stood to take the card to her mother. (A true story of Guess and her mother)
